DisasterComUK Blog

Welcome to the DisasterComUK Blog.

My name is Scott Carver and I am the MD of DisasterComUK as well as a certified Business Continuity Management practitioner who enjoys working on front line projects.

This blog is a way of reaching out to people & organisations interested in Business Continuity Management (including Incident Management), with the aim of generating interest in the subject & offering a portal for audiences to ask Business Continuity Management related questions directly.

You can be certain that the answers you receive back are credible from an experience perspective & are communicated in a manner that enables you to implement them promptly.

So whether you’re someone with questions relating to all aspects of Business Continuity Management;
•    Analysis in the form of Business Impact Analysis & Risk Assessment?
•    Decision direction in the form of Business Continuity Strategy formulation & mitigation solutions?
•    Development in the form of Business Continuity Plans & People?
•    Exercising & testing such as Desktops, Simulations or simple Plan walkthroughs?
•    Promoting organisation awareness such as road shows & staff communications?

….Then this blog is the only site for you!

The blog will also help centralise other Business Continuity & Business Resilience related conversations via Linkedin (DisastercomUK People ), Twitter, and Facebook.

So, a little bit of background information about me.

I got into Business Continuity Management via a career path of diverse customer facing roles & operational management with large organisations such as Dixons Stores Group & Marks and Spencer Financial Services.

I enjoy identifying development needs that when addressed, benefit a business or team whilst as the same time promotes assurance that the bases are covered & gaps are filled.

The attraction of Business Continuity Management for me is in the fact that it’s about analysing systems & materials, developing people and then stepping forward as one group to rehearse everything against scenarios that normally would severely threaten the survival of an establishment, instead managing through it with confidence and direction.
…….demonstrating how Business Continuity Management development is a sound and compelling return on investment is a challenge I never tire of.
I hope our blog serves to provide you with the information & direction you require, and welcome any questions and comments you may have.
Scott.
